About Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Illinois

Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Illinois is nonprofit, bipartisan membership group comprising 350+ police chiefs, sheriffs, and state’s attorneys from every corner of the state. These law enforcement leaders look to bolster public safety by speaking-up for greater, research-proven investments in policies and programs that are shown to help put young people on a path toward success from early in their lives — a path that leads away from trouble.

Fight Crime members know from experience: We cannot curb crime solely by reacting to it after the fact. Instead, as extensive studies demonstrate, prevention-oriented investments can help to stop many challenges from ever occurring in the first place. High-quality early childhood and after-school services can improve kids’ chances of academic and behavioral success and reduce their likelihood of becoming involved in trouble. Plus, such proactive investments are often far cheaper and cost effective than purely responsive measures.

Fight Crime’s longstanding partnerships include work with the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association, and the Illinois State’s Attorneys Association to boost children’s prospects of achievement.
